I have a strong opinion that many people have been saying that Akshay kumar , who played the character of lala , is shown of backward mentality and people today know that dowry is wrong , but trust me people even think that corruption or cheating in exam is wrong but does that mean that these incidences aren`t evident ? Not at all . lala urf Akshay kumar is playing the character of the man who is burdened by the responsibility of 4 sisters but kindly or unkindly we need to understand that it is a character and though it is the main lead ,all characters comes comes in the shades of grey, rather than in complete black and white therefore we can`t hold him in the witness box . 

We know that people like lala are still existing in our society , who are trying to make both ends meet for their sister`s marriage and their are also brothers like those who don`t do anything to help their parent`s to contribute in their sister`s dowry . who would you consider a good brother ? the first one offcourse and surely and shortly, you cannot judge the real intensions of the brother because what he wants at the end ? the happiness of his sisters . but one thing we need to get and not get away with is to stop the practice of taking and giving dowry . now , definitely it won`t happen in a day , but gradually it could lessen and ultimately it could end no sooner than later. It might be obscure to even feel that a daughter get killed for not being able to give a fridge to her in laws , but what could we do about it? People do feel this way – ham kya hi kare?
