A BRIEF INQUIRY INTO PERFORMANCE & AUTHENTICITY IN ART, EXPRESSION & SELF IDENTITY IN POP CULTURE IN THE 21ST CENTURY

PART 1 – THE MUSEUM OF ICE-CREAM-IFICATION OF ART INSTITUTIONS

1] self awareness is a garb we all love to put on ,

 so we don`t have to act against our issues

2] Authenticity is an aesthetic on social media ,

where being real has nothing to do about being honest , 

but everything to do being how relatable or problematic one is

depending on which end of the spectrum one want to fall unto. ; 

3] Performance & authenticity can coexist ,

in the same way you and your perception can.

4] Performative art , loves to flounder for recognition 

while real art , glides in self expression ,

both can concur , but never in peace , but in petulance 

till one dies , the other one comes back to life .

5] One can make performance art,

 out of genuine self expression ,

but not the other way around .

6] Context collapse in art is more about ,

approximation of art in reference with majority leaning belief

 rather than having any interpolations , extrapolations & interpretations .

7]The point of performance , is to start a conversation ,

the point of art, is to make you contemplate .

8] Its reductive to make art have a moral compass ,

when humans don`t have it .

9] The more appeal your art has ,

the less appealing it is to be artistic.

10] The greatest irony of the generation is that ,

we consume art to entertain Us in a comfortable way 

When the actual purpose of it is ,

To pendulum Between entertain and un-entertain us in an uncomfortable and novel way

11] Homogenous art is a flatliner , 

something that is regressive in a way that,

 It bootstraps the artistic creativity to the point that is only consumed for its comfort

but not for its unconventionality or its excruciating identity 

12] art would always have an upper hand over artist 

13] art is not a concept piece that you can put on & put off ,

it has living, breathing identity within us 

that survives through the ordeals of being ousted 

being rivetted to the skin of the genius you create or you are .

14] if art interests you in a way that

 it makes you bewildered to the atmosphere of the execution & its ambiguity 

and then you nod your head in a way you approve of it in delinquency 

questioning its accuracy & obscurity , to the point 

you start celebrating it in a religious way 

rather than tolerating it in a condemning way

there you can make it your everyday lexicon 

so it lives within you & lives beyond you .

15] The ice-cream-ification of art has made it, 

much more digestible in a way ,

it is no more artistic or a means of expression.

16] we live in an era’

where it is too woke to express an original opinion 

that it is based on the pre assumption 

that it is impossible to have ideas of your own, 

or if you , by err , have any,

negate them or regret them ,

or be ashamed of them .

17] The more rational you become with your art ,

from the fear to make it unenterprising,

making it commercial in a risk aversive zone  

the more regressive your art becomes ,

that looks palpable on the plate , 

but tastes very rebundant & disposable in an insipid way

that it becomes to de age in a ridiculing way ,

that it starts mocking its fool proof origin 

 

PART 2- TRAGEDY OF TECHNOLOGY 

18] Artificial intelligence is outsourcing thinking in a bridled way 

19] one cannot outsource love to technology , 

unless one can outsource the agency to imitate love.

20] In a very retrospective & reflective way , 

I am going to put out that intellect , philosophy & human skepticism , 

is where Artificial intelligence fails in a debilitating way 

not because it is artificial , but because it lacks experience of its own. 

21] Para social relationships ,

 are more about Para abnormal delusions & Para unusual illusions ,

 that stems one`s identity about being associated more with the artist , 

rather than their art .

22] The syntax of modern artist , is similar , in a degrading way ,

that it forfeits art in a deliberately ambiguous demeanor .

23] Artistic humility in a technology driven institutionalization of creative discourse , 

diagnoses the footfalls , but fails to prescribe its recourse .

BEYOND THE READING ,

QUESTIONS I AM LEAVING YOU WITH, 

A. would you like to trade off your experiences to technology or would you like to gatekeep It ?

B. would you like to outsource your existentialism to AI?

C. would you like to externalize , human suffering to Robots ?

D. would you like to artificialize , your identity to automated gadgets ?

E. would you like to humanize , your simulation to super intelligence ?

F. would you like to redistribute , human eccentricity to Machine learning?

G. would you like to farmout experimentation , to deep learning ?

H. would you like to project human alienation , to a software, that would imitate it ?

I. how long would the “imitation of intellect & expression” by algorithms , sit right with you ? 

J. how would you be able to decouple , technology with truth , lacking human agency & submitting to agentic guidepost ?

K. would you further trade off your consciousness to digital eco chambers ? 

L. would you out engineer your conscience , morality & ethics to hyper engineered reality ?

M. would it not give birth to the frankesitein`s monster of our own genius , 

that would dig the grave of human agency , ultimately ?
