WE WANT NO CAESERS ...
WE WANT NO CAESERS ...
Sub theme - THE CURSE OF HERO WORSHIP
Inspired by
1) Caesar is an autocrat ,
In all classics,
in all cults,
in all books of sane literal political theories.
2)Hero worship is a potent drug that infiltrate the framework of democracy and rots it to death.
3) Token participation and performative inclusion are the two face masks of an Ill democracy.
4) We make myths out of people,
and then celebrate them like our history,
and further worship them like Gods,
Forming their cults, like religions.
5) Humans are not capable of being heroes,
they are inherently flawed, tired and mortal beings.
6) All legends are vindictive, dishonest and corrupted in ways .
7) when we are making Messiahs,
We are making megalomaniacs
When we are making mythes,
We are rewriting miseries.
8) Politics will remain a theatre,
Till the time we choose to be spectators
The day we choose to be participants ,
It would turn into a platform for democracy,
From merely being a performance of democracy.
9) The lifeblood of a republican democracy is
skepticism in authority,
Ground holding belief in inclusion
And argumentative spirit to give constructive criticism
10 ) All Messaihas, Gurus , Heroes & idolizations are Counterintuitive and counterfeit .
11) I believe more in the common sense of a common men
Then in the common sense of an uncommon morally courageous political persona or an educated uncanny foreign return.
12) Godlike leaders don't exist
As God does not exist.
13) Even the greatest and most morally righteous leader is biased to his beliefs and circumscribed to his prejudices.
14) The day democracy becomes the graveyard of hero worship,
That day politicians would be accountable and politics would no more be a dirty game
But a fair play of debunking fallacies and falsehoods.
15) Don't spare me Shankar - 1950s
We won't spare you Shankar - 2020s

Well argued! May be this is who we are fundamentally. Humans are evolved to be able to understand simple stories and get attracted to it. Creating a hero out of complex truth is that easy story! Looking beyond simpler God like Man requires lot of information nods and energy, simply unavailable for mass public!
ReplyDeleteI really liked the central idea that democracy needs questioning, not worship. The last line brings the whole piece back to its roots beautifully.
